Lower Youth Baseball/Softball Diamond Completed

The first of two youth baseball/softball fields has been completed at the Martin Complex.

The Minnesota Twins Community Fund, in partnerships with Toro Corporation and Land O’ Lakes, provided a $5,000 grant which required 100% matching funds from the community. The Alburnett Sports Booster Club stepped up to the plate and delivered a home run with a $7,000 donation.

The Foundation would also like to thank the following people who donated time and/or services to the project: Chris Shadden and family – soil prep, Marty Boyse – outfield seeding, Bob Berry & Kenny Fuessley – infield lime, Dan Sherman – cement work, and Bob Berry, Daivd Boesenberg, Gregg Smith & Larry Martin – dugout construction.

A dedication ceremony for the new field will be held in the Spring of 2008.

If you or your organization has an interest in donating funds, time, materials and/or services to construct the second youth baseball/softball field, please contact Bob Berry, Foundation Vice President at 319.981.6171.

On September 15, 2007, Ginger and Kollin Burns accepted a recognition plaque from the Minnesota Twins, as representatives of the Alburnett Community School District Foundation, at a pregame ceremony.
