4th Annual Pillars Scholarship Recipients

The following 2010 Alburnett Seniors are each recipients of a $500 Pillars Scholarship:

For Academics: Ellen Gardner and Ben Lahue

For Fine Arts: Allyson Miller and Heather Schoonover

For Athletics: Cortney Wood and Shelby Matus

The Pillars Scholarship program seeks to award well-rounded and involved graduating Alburnett High School seniors who excel in the areas of academics, fine arts and athletics. The Foundation truly believes that the best student is a well-rounded student, and seeks to encourage future alumni to have a connection to the school and the community and to have an opportunity to give back to it in the future.

This scholarship program has four objectives: 1) To reward students for their excellence in these three pillar areas where they have demonstrated talent, effort and leadership as well as citizenship, 2) To introduce students to a personal interview situation similar to those they will face in collegiate and employment scenarios, 3) To show the Foundations financial commitment to several core areas of school involvement, and 4) To emphasize and promote continuation of post-secondary education.

Applications are generally made available to Seniors just after the new year. Results are generally announced and certificates awarded on Senior Awards night. Additional information regarding the 2010-11 Pillars Scholarship will be made available on this website as soon as it is available.

Please contact Mike Olinger at 350-2512 if you have any questions.
